300+ women supported — and now, a movement.
What began in 2020 as a personal effort to help a handful of women navigate fibroids and other gynaecological conditions has, by the close of 2025, grown into a registered foundation reaching thousands across Nigeria through education, advocacy and surgical outreach.
2020–2023 · Quiet beginnings
My Gynae started small and personal. In its first three years, the founder and a handful of volunteers used their own time, money and networks to support women living with fibroids, endometriosis, PCOS (now PMOS) and other gynaecological conditions — accompanying them through diagnosis, helping cover consultations, and connecting them to surgeons.
By the end of 2023, more than 300 women had been directly supported through this informal work. Those women, and the gaps their stories exposed, became the case for building something bigger.
2024 · From effort to organisation
In 2024, My Gynae Issues Foundation (MGIF) was formalised, with a board of trustees chaired by Prof Rotimi Ayodele Jaiyesimi and led by CEO Ms Oyinkan Osisanya. The year was spent building the infrastructure — governance, partnerships and the first cohort of healthcare collaborators — that would carry the work to scale.
The team launched the first edition of the Gynaecological Health Summit, ran community awareness drives, and began consolidating digital advocacy on @mygynaeissues, where women could ask questions and find expert answers.
2025 · The year of scale
2025 was the breakthrough year. Drawing from the foundation's 2025 Annual Report, the highlights include:
Walk Against Fibroids
Bloom 2025 took to the streets of Lekki, Lagos on 26 July with 20+ walkers, 6 volunteers and an estimated street reach of 750 people.
Instagram Live
Lady O and Prof Jaiyesimi answered "what every woman wants to know about fibroids" live on 3 August, opening up the conversation to a national audience.
Health Summit 2.0
The Gynaecological Health Summit returned with expert panels, free checks and pamper sessions — covered by Arise TV and amplified by partner platforms.
Save a Womb, Save a Life
A free-fibroids-surgery campaign across Lagos, Ogun and Oyo. Lives saved, free consultations provided and surgical interventions delivered to women who otherwise could not afford care.
Behind the events, governance and accountability strengthened too: 91.9% of 2025 spend went directly to programmes, with administrative costs held to 8.1% — a ratio that puts donor money exactly where it was promised.
What's next · 2026 priorities
- Scale community education programmes beyond Lagos, Ogun and Oyo.
- Expand screening and referral services through partner hospitals.
- Deepen research and data collection on Nigerian women's gynaecological health.
- Strengthen policy advocacy for inclusive, gender-responsive healthcare.
- Diversify funding and partnerships to sustain and grow programme delivery.
