Before the surgery, he made a promise.
"No matter what happens, we will get through this together."
At the time, I wanted to believe him.
But fear made it difficult.
What if the recovery was harder than expected?
What if complications arose?
What if life never returned to normal?
The months that followed tested us both.
There were setbacks.
Unexpected expenses.
Emotional exhaustion.
Moments of frustration.
Moments of uncertainty.
Yet through it all, he remained.
Not perfectly.
Not without challenges.
But consistently.
When I doubted myself, he encouraged me.
When I became discouraged, he reminded me how far I had come.
When I felt broken, he reminded me I was still whole.
His promise was not that life would be easy.
His promise was that I would not face it alone.
And he kept it.
In a world where many promises are broken, some become anchors. This was one of them. And it carried us through the storm.
