The Brother Who Donated Blood

The call came late in the evening.

My haemoglobin levels had fallen dangerously low.

A blood transfusion was urgently needed.

As the family scrambled to find donors, my brother stepped forward without hesitation.

"There is no need to look elsewhere," he said.

"I'll do it."

To him, it seemed like a small gesture.

To me, it meant everything.

When you are seriously ill, support takes many forms.

Sometimes it looks like prayers.

Sometimes it looks like financial assistance.

Sometimes it looks like sitting quietly beside a hospital bed.

And sometimes it looks like rolling up your sleeve and donating blood.

That day, my brother gave more than blood.

He gave reassurance.

He gave comfort.

He gave hope.

He reminded me that I was not fighting alone.

Family is not only about shared genetics. It is about shared burdens. Shared sacrifices. Shared victories.

And I will never forget the day my brother literally gave a part of himself to help me keep going.
