People often ask what it feels like to receive a cancer diagnosis.
The truth is that there is no single answer.
Some days I felt brave. Other days I felt terrified. Some days I felt hopeful. Other days I felt overwhelmed.
What surprised me most was how ordinary life continued.
The sun still rose. Emails still arrived. Bills still needed to be paid.
The world continued moving while I tried to process a life-changing reality.
Cancer has a way of clarifying what matters. It strips away distractions. It forces you to examine priorities. It teaches you not to take tomorrow for granted.
During that season, I learned to appreciate simple things. A conversation with a loved one. A moment of laughter. A favourable test result. A peaceful night's sleep.
I also learned that vulnerability is not weakness. Allowing people to support me was one of the hardest lessons. But it became one of the most important.
No one is meant to carry life's heaviest burdens alone.
Today, I am grateful. Grateful for skilled healthcare professionals. Grateful for family and friends. Grateful for God's mercy. And grateful for every day that followed that diagnosis.
Because each day is a gift.
