Some people enter your life and leave footprints that never fade. She was one of those people.
She was vibrant, kind, intelligent, and full of dreams. We spoke about our futures, our families, our careers, and the lives we hoped to build.
Like many women, she assumed she had time. Time to pursue her ambitions. Time to raise her family. Time to enjoy the life ahead of her.
Then tragedy struck. Complications related to maternal health took her life.
The news shattered me.
I struggled to comprehend how a woman so full of life could be gone. How could a condition that was preventable claim the life of someone so loved? How could so many women continue to die from causes that modern medicine should be able to address?
For a long time, I carried those questions. But questions eventually became conviction. Conviction became purpose. And purpose became action.
I made a promise. I would not allow her story to be forgotten. I would do whatever I could to help other women access information, support, and healthcare.
I did not know then what that promise would eventually become. I only knew that silence was not an option.
Today, every woman helped through My Gynae Foundation reminds me of that promise.
Every surgery funded. Every life impacted. Every woman who finds hope after despair. All of it is part of a legacy born from loss.
My friend may no longer be here. But her story continues to inspire a movement dedicated to saving lives.
