Raising awareness of
various Gynaecology Conditions
and their Impact on Women's Health.
OUR MISSION
My Gynae advocates for patients’ rights/safety, and support women through their reproductive health journeys. We partner with hospitals and organisations who have a CSR budget, in order to get subsidised health care costs for reproductive health conditions. Also and where possible; we facilitate access to funding for patients who have life-threatening gynaecological issues but cannot afford the cost of the required treatment options. The Foundation serves as a support system/advocacy group for women suffering from the effects of fibroids. It is also building a much-needed community for patients to network, share their experiences and compare notes.

The objectives of the foundation:
- Creating awareness for various gynaecology conditions affecting women.
- Acts as a sign post to facilitate appointments with the required medical doctors and specialists.
- Providing support for women as they walk through their reproductive health journey.
- Partnering with hospitals who have a CSR budget, in order to get subsidised health care costs for gynaecology conditions.
- Providing funding for indigent patients who have life threatening gynaecological conditions, but cannot afford the treatment options.
- Advocacy for Patients’ rights.
THE UTERUS
As described by Prof Rotimi Jaiyesimi, The Uterus (pronounced yoo·tuh·ruhs) can be compared to a pear-shaped organ in the reproductive system of people assigned female at birth (AFAB). It's where a fertilized egg implants during pregnancy and where babies develop until birth. It is responsible for the menstrual cycle and is commonly referred to as the womb. It can be compared to a pear 🍐 (Avocado) because it has a wide upper end - the fundus, a middle part - the body and it tapers down to the cervix. The uterus/womb is made up of three layers:
1- A very thin surface cover called the SEROSA
2- The middle layer is very wide and is made of muscles. This is the MYOMETRIUM, where fibroids start growing from/in.
3- The inner layer is very thin and is called the ENDOMETRIUM. This is where menstrual bleeding comes from. The endometrium runs round the space in the middle of the womb - the UTERINE or ENDOMETRIAL CAVITY. The cavity is where a baby grows in pregnancy
